Ravens-Steelers Game, last Steeler touchdown, the

ball DIDN'T break the plane! You Agree? The Steelers got a free touchdown
Even Ray Lewis said the ball wasn't in, he should know he was there
Steelers cheaters!

sorry, your just jealous. Don't be a hater. The call was made by the referee, not the Steelers. So, how can they be cheaters?

The ball didn't have to break the plane of the goal-line. The receiver had possession of the ball with two feet in the end-zone. The rule becomes like a sideline catch. That is why Holmes drug his feet (just like a sideline play) The retarded Line Judge is the that didn't know the rule.

Matthew. The ball has to break the plane. Look it up in The NFL rule book. And yes it was a bad call. I hope that ref gets fined big time. But, it doesn't make the Steelers cheaters. That much is true. As for the ref, his explanation of the overturned call didn't involve the football in any way which is just wierd. He needs to learn the rules.

Edit*
According to the official NFL Rulebook, a touchdown occurs "when any part of the ball, legally in possession of a player inbounds, breaks the plane of the opponent's goal line, provided it is not a touchback." The ball, in this case, didn't cross the plane of the opponent's goal line. There is also an excellent picture where the ball was CLEARLY not over the goal line.

The rulebook states that the referee may award a touchdown when a palpably unfair act deprives the offended team of one. Obviously, he thought the call on the field and the rules that actually govern what a TD should be were palpably unfair to the Steelers so he awarded them a TD. How is it that the Steelers are always on the positive sides of these types of calls?

I read an article that stated what Matthew wrote is actually the correct ruling, but I can't find anywhere in the rule book where it says that.

The ball didn't break the plane because the picture confirmed it and Baltimore should have won the match.

the steelers did not cheat. you are only saying that because of the 33-10 loss suffered by the new england patriots at the hands of the almighty steelers. (in your face). anyways, the ref made the call. and it was only 3rd down fool. they would have at least tied the game and gone to overtime where the steelers defense would have continued to shut down the ravens. they only had 202 offensive yards! after winning that game, the steelers would have crushed the patriots again just for fun.
