That all depends on your saddle. If you use a western saddle you do less work than with a English saddle. To make a horse go, a slight squeeze with your legs and a clucking noise work. To go slower use the reigns and pull slightly. Turning is easy. To turn right take your right reign and pull slightly right. for left do the same with your left side. Most of the time your horse will know where to go. For example if you run into a stream let the horse go where it wants. They know where to step. Good luck.
